2019 Baseball Recruiting Checklist

Happy New Year from 643Recrut! We hope that 2019 brings you all great success on and off the field.

As with any new beginning, their is an opportunity to make changes, get organized and prepare for success. Many baseball players are doing the on the field part of getting better. You should be in the middle of your off-season strength program and seeing gains from the past couple of months work you have put in. If you are a position player, you have been in the cages fine tuning your swing with adjustments you needed from last season. If you are a pitcher, you have been taking some needed rest from throwing but continuing your arm care program so you are ready to begin your throwing program leading into the high school season. Any skill you need to improve should be focused on now before the season so you can perfect your craft as much as possible and perform when it is your time! What about your recruiting checklist though? Too many players neglect the recruiting process because they work so hard at the rest of their game and they fall into the trap of thinking “ if I play well, someone will find me”. While this phrase is partially true, the players you see around you are typically doing a lot more than you think to get on the radar of college coaches. Most successful recruiting campaigns begin with getting yourself evaluated and figuring out what level of college baseball you can compete at. This approach keeps you from wasting time and money chasing after a college that is not going to recruit you based on your athletic ability. While it hurts to hear that you may not be able to play at your favorite college, it makes more sense to focus on the colleges where you have a chance to get recruited. Follow these few steps to make sure you are ready to showcase your talents in 2019!

1. Build your profile and keep it updated.
2. Make sure you have a skills video to send to college coaches.
3. Look for camps/showcases for this year where you can be seen by colleges.
4. Network! Make a list of friends, coaches, etc that may be able to help get your information to a college coach at some point this year.
5. Be Proactive! Send out your information every few weeks, ask for advice from others, make phone calls and join www.643recruit.com to jump start your recruiting process!
