College Baseball Camps – Planning ahead for the Summer

College baseball camps are a huge part of the college recruiting process.  Most colleges will put out their summer camp dates in the winter and mention that they have had (x) amount of current players on their roster attend one of those camps.  Camps give an entire coaching staff a chance to see a player perform and then they can meet to discuss that player's future with the team.  Naturally, coaches will suggest a player attend their camp for this reason and for the fact that they believe their camp is well run and informative.   Another vital piece of the camp equation is that a coach can talk to you while you are on their campus attending their camp.  This gives them a chance to really get to know the player better and more personally.  The real question is:  How does a player know which camps to attend during the winter months when colleges have not yet seen him or shown interest?

  1. Have a Recruiting Plan - research schools to find which ones will be a good academic, athletic and social fit for you
  2. Get Evaluated - a third party source that will give you honest feedback versus sugar coating everything to make you feel good is crucial if you want to attend the correct camps where you may get interest from the school.
  3. Put in your Leg Work - build your Free Profile at www.643Recruit.com  and upload your videos.  You need to send your profile to your Target Schools and begin marketing yourself.  You can post your profile link on social media also.
  4. Be Realistic - a great way to know where you stand is to attend some spring games of the schools you are interested in.  Be honest with yourself as to whether you can play at that level or have the potential to improve to that level.

These simple steps will help you lay the ground work for making good decisions on which camps to attend and where your money will be best spent.  Some college camps will fill up fast so being ahead of the game and getting organized early is always best.  If you want to get organized and get recruited then go to www.643Recruit.com  or email us at info@643recruit.com  .
